The  property thefts in California have become increasingly rampant, causing many small businesses to struggle under the pressure, with some forced to close down. Smash-and-grab thefts, such as car break-ins, have become commonplace. Many believe these issues stem from Proposition 47 (2014).

This year, California’s Proposition 36 aims to fix the loopholes in Proposition 47 and has garnered widespread support, securing a place on the November 2024 ballot. A recent poll conducted by the Public Policy Institute of California shows that 71% of likely voters support Prop 36; however, the problem is not many people know about Prop 36 in the first place.

The Equal Rights for All Political Action Committee (ERFA, erfapac.com) is actively raising funds to install yard signs supporting Proposition 36 across the state, especially in areas heavily affected by the so-called “zero-dollar purchases” (Smash-and-Grabs) thefts. The goal is to inform voters about the importance of supporting this proposition.

ERFA is collaborating with the Silicon Valley Chinese Association (SVCA), Better Cupertino, and Business and Housing Network (BAHN) to host a press conference with the theme of “Silicon Valley Residents Unite for Public Safety”. The event will feature speeches from local officials, law experts, candidates, community business owners during 1:30pm to 2pm; and we will start the yard sign distribution around 2pm until 3:00pm.
